“Capitalism at its finest!” Tennis Twitter mocks Nike as Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe weirdly sport matching outfits in the US Open semifinal

Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe
On Friday night at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz played the biggest match of their respective careers- the semifinal of the 2022 US Open. It was the first semifinal outing at a major for both Alcaraz and Tiafoe so it is needless to say that this was the biggest match of their careers.
But as soon as the players stepped on the court, the sight wasn’t pleasant as both players sported the same outfits. Tiafoe and Alcaraz are both sponsored by Nike when it comes to clothing and for the US Open, Nike has introduced a monotonous line for all the players. Nike’s apparels for the US Open include a red t-shirt with white shoulder patches and blue stripes on the side.
Both Alcaraz and Tiafoe wore the same t-shirt but fortunately for the viewers, they were donning different shorts. While Alcaraz went with white shorts, Tiafoe sported red shorts which contrasted to the naked eye and the blue hard courts.

Tennis fans upset about seeing Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe wearing the same outfit

Tennis pundits, fans, and experts were visibly frustrated to see both players wearing the same outfit as it wasn’t pleasing to the eye at all. It looked just weird to see two opponents who are competing against each other, wear the same clothing. Fans took to social media to raise this concern and slammed the clothing apparel for not giving them different options to wear and letting this mishap happen.
Twitter called out the capitalism in tennis but some fans also brought out Wimbledon’s all-white dressing and debated how is it any different from that.
