The Laver Cup will see a new player in Team Europe next year. World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has announced his participation in the 2024 Laver Cup, becoming the first player to join Team Europe.
Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg expressed his delight in having young talent like Carlos Alcaraz on his team. With that being said, it seems like the former tennis player will get an extremely talented player in his team at the next Laver Cup, scheduled to be held in Berlin in September next year.
The current Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz, will prove to be a huge asset to Team Europe as they look to take revenge against John McEnroe‘s Team World. For context, Team Europe has won the Laver Cup for the first 4 editions of the tournament, while Team World has taken over their opponents to win the cup for the previous 2 years.
Bjorn Borg stated in an interview that he will leave no stone unturned during the preparations for the 2024 Laver Cup. And the Spanish tennis player will definitely play a significant role in helping Team Europe have their revenge and achieve their winning streak once again.
For the uninitiated, the Laver Cup is a tournament played between two teams, Team World and Team Europe, and consists of both singles and doubles matches over the course of three days.

Swiss legend and 20-time Grand Slam title champion Roger Federer, who is also instrumental in the formation of the Laver Cup, expressed his desire to watch Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic represent Team Europe in the next Laver Cup. The former tennis player has openly expressed his support for Team Europe and wants to see his former team win the Laver Cup once again.
Carlos Alcaraz, on joining Team Europe, mentioned how it was a great honor to represent Bjorn Borg’s team at the Laver Cup. The Spaniard also expressed his excitement about knowing who his teammates will be in next year’s edition of the Laver Cup, scheduled to be held in Berlin in September next year.
