Spanish tennis ace and World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz will be featured in the Mexican exhibition event, TennisFest GNP, along with Danish tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki. America’s Tommy Paul and Greek ace Maria Sakkari will also play in the event, which will be among the many prominent off-season exhibition events. The event will take place on November 29.
This will be TennisFest GNP’s second edition as the tournament debuted in 2022 in “La México” Bullring. The tournament had one men’s singles match featuring Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud and a mixed doubles match with Mexican pair Renata Zarazúa and Santiago González taking on Canadian/American duo Leylah Fernandez and Jack Sock in its first edition.
This time around, TennisFest GNP will have a men’s singles and a women’s singles match. The fans in Mexico will get to see the reigning Wimbledon champion play some of his best tennis against an opponent who is among the only six players to beat the Spaniard in 2023. Tommy Paul will make Alcaraz run for the money when the two players face each other at the Plaza de Toros (bullring) in Mexico.

Carlos Alcaraz looks to clinch China Open ahead of exhibition event
While the exhibition event in Mexico is a distant affair for Carlos Alcaraz, the Spaniard has his eyes set on the closest goal, i.e., to win the Chian Open. After bowing out of the 2023 US Open following a defeat to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, Carlos Alcaraz took some much-needed rest as he missed out on the Davis Cup Finals group stage.
Now, the World No.2 will look to reclaim the top spot in the rankings. Alcaraz has admitted that his goal now is to eclipse Novak Djokovic and become the top-ranked player in the world. “As I have said a few times, we have a really beautiful battle to be No. 1 in the world, especially after the great performance that Novak had on the last American tour. Right now he is No. 1, so I come here with extra motivation to try to get him back and place first in the race, as well as in the rankings,” said the Spaniard.
Alcaraz will face a qualifier in the first round at the China Open. He then might meet either Karen Khachanov or Lorenzo Musetti in the second round. Seventh seed Casper Ruud is a potential quarter-final opponent for Alcaraz and one of Holger Rune and Jannik Sinner can be his semifinal opponent. In the final, if he makes it, Alcaraz might get to face Daniil Medvedev and hence a chance to avenge his defeat in New York.
