Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s epic 2023 Miami Open showdown at the Hard Rock Stadium is one of fans’ favorite. Sinner, who came from behind to win 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, revealed that the crowd gave him a great energetic victory.

A year ago, the Miami Open lived up to its expectations when Sinner faced Alcaraz in the semifinals. With Daniil Medvedev already securing his place in the final, the two youngsters had all to play for. Alcaraz won the first set after winning a tiebreaker.

However, the match changed in the second set, with Sinner playing one of the best sets of the Tour.

In a video posted by Tennis TV, both players reflected on the game and how nice it was to compete on the court.

I think when both players play tennis like this, it’s also very nice to play. You can feel it, also with the crowd. I think that was a great energy with everything.
Sinner said

Notably, the main highlight of the match was a breathtaking 25-ball rally between the duo, in which they both showed their defensive skill and class in the prolonged encounter. In the end, the Italian produced a wonderful backhand that sent the Spaniard tumbling to the ground. The crowd then exploded into raptures.

It was an unbelievable point. When I lost that point, the first thing that came to my mind is like, ‘He’s unbeatable, this guy’. We played a great game, I think we were both at a great level. I broke his serve that game.
Continuing further, Alcaraz added

However, Sinner’s hope for the Miami title was cut short after Medvedev defeated him 7-5, 6-3 in the final. Sinner and Alcaraz will be aiming to win the Florida Beach Tournament this season. However, the World No. 2, who defeated the Italian in the semi-finals of Indian Wells, sits as the favorite and top seed for the Sunshine Doubles victory.

Carlos Alcaraz to begin his Miami campaign against Robert Carballes

Indian Wells champion Carlos Alcaraz will begin his campaign for the Miami Open against Roberto Carballes. The Spanish star seems to have regained his form in the US after a poor start to the season.

Alcaraz participated in three tournaments earlier in the season, but at the BNP Paribas Open, the 21-year-old defended his title with excellent performances.

Carballes, on the other hand, has yet to win a back-to-back game since the Auckland Open, in which he reached the semifinals. With four out of 11 games won this season, the player is struggling for form.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz will be facing a tough test in the Florida-based tournament. With the likes of Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev still reeling from the defeat at Indian Wells, they will be aiming for an act of revenge.
