Former World No.1 Justine Henin talks about the difference between Novak Djokovic‘s and Carlos Alcaraz‘s game. The Belgian revealed that Alcaraz’s fall began at the start of the match in itself. She said that Djokovic was able to leave his mark during the commencement of the match. However, Alcaraz could not do so.

“Djokovic was able to do what Alcaraz couldn’t just two days before leaving his mark at the start of the match,” said Henin. She also expounded that Djokovic began displaying his offensive prowess during the initial stages of the match. Henin explained that Djokovic began attacking very early on in the match. She also said that this was something the young Spaniard could not do in his semi-final match against Daniil Medvedev, who was later defeated in the final by the Serb himself.

Adding on to this, Justine also said that he was also showing off his excellent serving skills in the final. “He served very well at the beginning of the match, even despite lowering his first serve percentage later, “ said the Belgian. She also revealed that Medvedev was not able to create that kind of an impact on the 36-year-old. According to the Belgian, Carlos began dropping his game against Medvedev in the initial stages in itself. Despite winning a set in the semi-final match, the Spaniard was unable to keep up the pace. This led to Medvedev’s victory, stopping Alcaraz in his tracks to defend his crown.

Djokovic was playing on another level for the duration of the US Open. He played both a physical and a mental game in the tournament. The US Open was quite a high-stakes event, personally, for the Serb. With the title victory at the Grand Slam, he became the first male tennis player to win 24 Grand Slams. He also has the most number of Grand Slam titles in the Open Era. He now holds a combined record with Margaret Court for the most number of Grand Slams in history.

Belgian former tennis player Justine Henin analyzed the exhilarating US Open 2023 final match between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. She revealed that Medvedev took a little while longer to get into the groove of the game. This made the biggest difference in deciding the outcome of the match.

“Tactically, everything he did was perfect,” said Henin referring to Novak’s game. She also described the second set as ‘exceptional’ and said that the match had the chance to be a great final. “But that’s when Djokovic gets stronger when he has to resist,” she said. She elucidated that Djokovic really improved his game after the second set after Medvedev began showing some resistance to his game.

She also said that the tremendous amount of mental strength that Djokovic had was playing a vital role in his outcomes. “He has so much mental strength that he ends up being discouraging for his rivals,” said Henin. She finally said that Novak was the strongest on the night of the final and he showed that in many ways.
