He said that it is a difficult defeat for him. However, the positive side to this defeat is that the youngster now knows the aspects of his game that he needs to work on to improve as a player. Alcaraz reiterated that although he played some good tennis, it was definitely not at the level that he is usually known for.

It is a difficult defeat for me. It hurt me a lot. There are many things to improve, the level has to rise. I played good tennis, but very far from my real level

Carlos Alcaraz has suffered a number of tough defeats in the recent past. He was in his absolute prime when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final of the 2023 Wimbledon. However, following his loss against Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal of the US Open, there was a significant dip in his confidence and form, which is reflected in his performances even now.

Alcaraz was the defending champion at the Argentina Open and also the top seed this season. His departure from the semis was thus extremely unexpected. However, he did not make any excuses and credited his opponent where it was due. Jarry will now face Facundo Diaz in the final of the 2024 Argentina Open and battle it out for the title.

As far as Carlos Alcaraz is concerned, he will now shift his focus to the Indian Wells, which starts on March 3. However, he will have to make huge improvements in his game ahead of the tournament if he aims to defend the title successfully.
