Carlos Alcaraz was up against Gael Monfils in a battle of speed at the Miami Open on Monday. Both the players, though years apart, were almost equally matched. One of their rallies exemplified their abilities, leaving both players smiling and clapping at each other. 

While it was Alcaraz who had dominated the match all the way long, but one particular point in the second set had the audience giving them a standing ovation. The point saw Monfils returning every Alcaraz passing shot to perfection. However, it was the Spaniard who hit the last passing forehand cross-court that left the Frenchman applauding him.

At that point, Alcaraz was left blushing and clapped back at Monfils’ gesture. The rally was a perfect example of both players’ strengths. On one side, Alcaraz continued with his special shots, while Monfils remained as fast as ever.

Throughout the match, Alcaraz produced such fabulous shots and rightly so had all control of the match. After which, he soon beat Monfils in what was a very entertaining game.

Carlos Alcaraz brought out all the shots under his sleeve, against a very fast Gael Monfils in the round of 32. The game, saw the Spaniard take an initial set lead without breaking a sweat and continued the same in the second.

Alcaraz’s forehand was on display like is in every match. This time around, it was a monstrous 104mph forehand that even took a fast player like Monfils by surprise, who was just a viewer as the ball sailed past him. 

Similarly, Alcaraz took a huge lead in the match, leaving Monfils no chance to make a comeback. In a flash, the match was over, as Alcaraz emerged victorious over Monfils 6-2, 6-4. With this, the World No, 2 moves on to the fourth round and one more step closer to a maiden Sunshine Double win. He now faces Lorenzo Musetti for a spot in the quarter-finals.
