World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz continues to work towards becoming the biggest name in tennis for years to come. The 20-year-old has already won two Grand Slam singles titles and has finished as the year-end No. 1.

Already dubbed the flagbearer of tennis alongside rival Jannik Sinner, the Spaniard is just getting started. One of the biggest supporters in this journey for him has been his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. The 2003 French Open winner is also a former World No. 1 and has been a big factor in Alcaraz’s early success.

Ferrero and Alcaraz have bonded well and look nearly inseparable. The reigning Wimbledon champ has often hailed Ferrero as his father figure and credited much of his success to the former Roland Garros winner.

With 12th February being the birthday of his coach, Alcaraz took to his social media accounts to send his birthday wishes. He shared the photo of them hugging after Alcaraz clinched the Wimbledon title defeating Novak Djokovic.

What has now become a customary climb to the box after winning the Major, Alcaraz had also rushed to his box. Waiting in tears was Ferrero as the two shared a heartwarming hug on the Centre Court of the All-England Club.

Alcaraz along with the image of them hugging also wrote ‘Happy Birthday’ in Spanish while tagging the account of Ferrero.

Feliz cumple
Wrote Alcaraz.

Carlos Alcaraz returns to action this week

After a long wait for fans, the former US Open champ will return to the Tour this week. He will be playing on the clay courts of Buenos Aires at the Argentina Open, an ATP-250 event.

He is the top seed and also the defending champion of the competition. World No. 19 Cameron Norrie is the second seed while World No. 20 Nicolas Jarry is the third seed at the event. Ferrero is also a former champion in Buenos Aires having won the title in 2010 when Alcaraz was about to turn seven years old.

There however remains a doubt if Ferrero has made the trip to the site of his former title. Having missed the Australian leg due to an injury that saw Alcaraz play without his coach, there is yet to be an official confirmation if the duo is reunited for the South American leg.

Alcaraz will start his title defense directly from the second round. He has a bye in the first round and will take on the winner from the clash between qualifier and local lad Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Juan Pablo Varillas.
