I don’t know yet, that’s the truth. Tomorrow, I have the test of my ankle and let’s see if it’s something serious or not. I mean the physios told me that they think it’s not too serious. Well it was bad, it was bad because I felt bad. That was the first impression that I had.

Carlos Alcaraz explains why he continued to play despite injury

The Spanish ace also explained his decision to continue playing despite injuring his ankle. As Alcaraz came back after receiving some treatment, many were shocked to see him risking it. However, as the player has explained, it was more of an on-the-spot test to know about the extent of the injury.

Alcaraz explained that he was asked by his physio to continue for a couple of games so that everyone could understand how serious was the injury.

I was feeling pain once I fall down. thought it was going to be difficult to continue the match. The physio told me that let’s continue a few games and let’s see what’s my feelings. I was feeling the pain. I couldn’t move well and that’s why I chose to retire.
Carlos Alcaraz explained.

Notably, this is the second injury to his leg in six months for Carlos Alcaraz. Earlier, the Spaniard had withdrawn from a few tournaments due to inflammation on the sole of his left foot. Now, the 20-year-old twisted his ankle and as it seems, Alcaraz will need time before he gets match-fit.

It is getting from bad to worse for Alcaraz. The Spaniard is already facing a threat from Jannik Sinner for his World No.2 ranking as the Italian continues to climb the ladder. This injury has only pushed Alcaraz back in the race.
