Having regained his No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings just last week, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Tommy Paul, a semifinalist at the Australian Open, in straight sets of 6-4, 6-4, paving the way for a match against Taylor Fritz, who is seeded ninth at the Miami Masters. The Spaniard becomes the star attraction in Miami as many celebrities are grabbing the opportunity to click pictures with him.
After his latest win, the New York Mets star, Francisco Lindor and NFL great Chad Johnson were spotted having snapped pictures with the world No.1. The 19-year-old is currently having the best time both on and off the court. He is moving well on the court and hitting the ball well too. On the other hand, he is also enjoying the attention on the U.S. shores.
Amidst the cheers of a lively audience at the Hard Rock Stadium, the Spanish player dazzled the crowd with his impressive shot-making skills, executing drop shots, precise volleys, and powerful winners to emerge victorious in a thrilling match that lasted just an hour and thirty-six minutes, sending the fans into a frenzy.
At present, Alcaraz has set his sights on becoming the youngest tennis player to secure the ‘Sunshine Double’ by winning both the Indian Wells and Miami Open titles in the same year. Having already clinched his third ATP Masters 1000 crown in Indian Wells earlier this month, the 19-year-old prodigy must win his third title of the season in Miami to hold onto his No. 1 ranking in the ATP rankings.

Jimmy Butler lauds Carlos Alcaraz and justifies his No.1 position
Carlos Alcaraz had an eventful day on Sunday at the Miami Open presented by Itau, both on and off the court. Following his impressive 6-0, 7-6(7-5) win over Dusan Lajovic, the top-ranked player in the world had the opportunity to meet two famous personalities. Shortly after stepping off the court, the 19-year-old had a chat with NBA superstar Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Butler had nothing but admiration for the young Spaniard, and he had plenty of compliments to offer.
On this occasion, Butler said, “He’s always poised. He’s never rattled and more than anything, it looks like he’s having so much fun out there. I think whenever you have fun and you have that mentality that you know you’re the best, you go out there and you play as though you’re the best, results happen and he’s not No. 1 for no reason.”
Later that day, Carlos Alcaraz also had the opportunity to take some pictures with the popular Dominican singer, Natti Natasha. During his press conference, the defending champion expressed his delight at seeing famous personalities enjoy watching him play. He described the feeling as ‘great’.
