Carlos Alcaraz might be an amazing returner of the deadliest of serves on the court, but he surely has a long way to go before he masters the art of answering tricky questions like who is his favorite WTA star. It was quite evident when the Spanish ace was put into the spot by Jim Courier after his win in the fourth round at the 2024 Australian Open.

While expressing his love for tennis, Alcaraz went on to say that he loves watching any game. The youngster also named a few players he likes to watch during his time off the court.

Alcaraz named his colleagues cum rivals Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev. However, he was left fumbling when asked to name a WTA player he likes to watch.

The 20-year-old ended up saying that he also likes to watch the WTA tour. Alcaraz said it does not matter if it is ATP or WTA, he watches other players’ matches. While Alcaraz’s story ended here, a tennis influencer got fooled by a fake quote about the same on X (formerly Twitter). Eliza Wastcost fell for a quote that claimed that Alcaraz named Emma Raducanu as his favorite WTA player.

A fake quote claiming that Carlos Alcaraz, named Emma Raducanu as his favorite WTA player, went viral on social media. Like many, an American tennis influencer also fell for it as she shared the snapshot of the post on her Instagram story with the caption “I ship them so hard!”.

However, soon she realized that it was a fake quote and Alcaraz never really said that. She confessed about it in her next story where she wrote:

Twitter lied to me, apparently Carlos never said that.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time someone has fake-quoted Alcaraz and a prominent name has fallen for it.

In fact, Raducanu was herself a victim when she believed a fake message claiming that Alcaraz dedicated his win to the Briton as she had her surgery and posted a tweet in reply to it. Although Raducanu was quick to remove her post, it caught the attention of the fans.
