Carlos Alcaraz teams up with Pablo Carreno Busta for a fun challenge against his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero and Daniela Hantuchova
The opposing teams
Carlos Alcaraz and his coach the former world number 1, Juan Carlos Ferrero have been a great team. Ferrero started working with Alcaraz in 2019 and has been instrumental in his rise as one of the brightest and most promising talents of the next generation. The two have been almost unstoppable in 2022 with Alcaraz winning four ATP titles including two masters 1000 titles. He also reached the quarterfinal of the French Open and would be looking for an even better show at Wimbledon.
For now, the coach and his protege decided to face each other in a fun golf challenge. Carlos Alcaraz teamed up with his friend and compatriot ranked number 19 in the world, Pablo Carreno Busta, while Juan Carlos Ferrero’s teammate was a former world number 5, Daniela Hantuchova and a retired Slovakian tennis player. The two teams squared off on the golf course in an attempt to take down one another.
Carlos Alcaraz’s team takes a lead, but do they win?
The Tennis Channel came up with the first edition of ‘The Best of Three’ and the two teams were pitted against each other to see who could win a team golf match. The challenge for Carlos Alcaraz was that if he were to lose, he would have to do the salsa dance, which the youngster accepted. Pablo Carreno Busta made a clean shot to putt the ball and it seems like Alcaraz’s team is ahead.
But, Juan Carlos Ferrero also made a great shot and they discussed how even in a game intended to be fun, the professional sportsperson tends to become very competitive. To find out what all happened in the game, you can watch the full episode on the TennisTV app.
