An interesting incident took place during Jannik Sinner‘s fourth-round match at the 2024 Miami Open. As Sinner took on Christopher O’Connell in the pre-quarterfinal, the ball went into the stands and a fan refused to return it. However, he gave it back after the chair umpire promised to give him a different ball later.

The incident took place during the opening set when Sinner hit a shot and the ball went into the stands. One of the spectators caught it and instead of immediately returning the ball, he sat in their seat with everyone waiting. The chair umpire fulfilled his promise as he sent a different ball to the spectator.

While a few found this incident funny, Andy Roddick called it dumb on the chair umpire’s part. The former American tennis ace said that the umpire asking the ball back embarrassed the spectator and that he should have been allowed to keep it.

While Chair Umpire sends souvenir, Jannik Sinner sends help!

This was not the only attention-worthy incident in the Jannik Sinner-Christopher O’Connell match. As it was a hot and humid day in Miami, a spectator fainted while the play was on. While the doctors took their time to rush to the spot to help the person, Sinner sent help from his side.

The 22-year-old Italian sent some water bottles and a towel for the person who fainted. He took help from the people standing closer to the court and sent the supplies through them.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time Sinner has won hearts with his gesture towards a fan or someone involved in the match. The Italian is known for his humbleness and kind-hearted nature. It was also on display when Sinner hit a member of his coaching staff during his fourth-round match.

In case you missed it!
