Chris Evert consoles Casper Ruud after his complaints over being bereft of media attention and appreciation
Casper Ruud gets support from former American tennis legend Chris Evert over his statements on 'not flashy' game.

Casper Ruud and Chris Evert
Chris Evert has a bit of special advice for world No.5 Casper Ruud. The Norwegian has recently won the Estoril Open. After a long and disappointing four months this season, came the relief of winning his first title this season.
Casper Ruud is an excellent player on clay. He made it to the final of the French Open last season but lost to Rafael Nadal. This year he is expecting to win his maiden Grand Slam title on clay.
But besides that, he also wants to be a part of the media limelight. He complains that he does not receive as much media attention despite numerous successes. Eminent journalist Jose Morgado shared his opinions on social media.
“Ruud. “People don’t write much about me. I think that’s also because I don’t have the most flashy game and most beautiful winners, forehand, backhand, serve. But in the end I’m winning quite a lot of matches. The ranking is 52-weeks, last year I won many matches,” the caption read.
To this, however, Chris Evert also shared her own take.
“You don’t need to be flashy, you get the job done, and that’s what counts…#winner,” she wrote on social media.
The world No.5 will soon start his campaign in the Monte-Carlo Masters 2023. He will be up against Botic Van de Zandschulp.

Casper Ruud’s brilliance on clay

The world No.5 loves to play on clay. This surface is his strength. He has won 199 out of 293 matches he has played on clay courts in his career. He has lost only 94 times. Hence, as soon as the clay swing began, Casper Ruud too blossomed.
The Norwegian was able to beat each of his opponents with ease. He defeated strong players such as Joao Sousa, Sebastian Baez, Quentin Halys, and Miomir Kecmanovic to clinch his Estoril Open singles title.
While Casper Ruud has mentioned that, he prioritizes clay over other surfaces. He is aware that his record on grass is abysmal, hence, clay provides him with his best chance to score some valuable ranking points and climb upwards in the ranking table.
“I know the odds of me playing and winning many matches on grass are very small. So I just have to be in this mentality that clay is very important for me. During my season, and in my career, I will always have a very big focus on the clay season,” Ruud said.
Hence, he is one of the contenders to win the Monte-Carlo Masters. He has reached the semi-final in this tournament twice in his career. However, this time, his eyes will be on the trophy.
