Daniil Medvedev started the season by finishing runner-up at the Australian Open and then made it to the semifinal of the Mexican Open. He then reached the quarterfinal of the Miami Masters but had a very average clay season where he was also ruled out for a few weeks due to injury. He then had a couple of runner-up finishes on the grass at the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships and Halle. After once again becoming the World No.1 after Wimbledon, he won the Los Cabos Open. This week in Cincinnati, he defeated Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round and Denis Shapovalov in the Round of 16 before beating Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinal in straight sets 7-6(1),6-3.
Stefanos Tsitsipas had a good start to the season. He reached the semifinal of the Australian Open and then backed it up by finishing runner-up at Rotterdam. He then made it to the semifinal of the Mexican Open but had a terrible Golden Swing. He started the clay season by defending his Monte Carlo title and also reached the final of the Rome Masters. He then won the Mallorca Open on grass but lost to Nick Kyrgios in the third round at Wimbledon. This week, he has beaten the likes of Filip Krajinovic and Diego Schwartzman before surviving John Isner in the quarterfinals.
