Djokovic qualified for the third round as his opponent, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, retired in the middle of the match. He then faced his longtime rival, Gael Monfils. The Serbian went on to take a 5-0 lead in the second set, but couldn’t close out the match, and Monfils broke back to win two games. Djokovic then won the match with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

On the other hand, Fritz dominated Jiri Lehecka and Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets to reach the third round. He was up against Dusan Lojovic, who had knocked out World No. 8 Jannik Sinner in his previous round. The American star was up 5-0 when Lajovic retired due to an injury.
