In a terrifying clip that is being circulated on social media, Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic can be seen getting stomped by two strangers in an empty passage in front of a shop. One of the strangers is constantly heard saying, “Get up ya dog,” to the player while continuing the assault.

Queensland police have revealed that they were aware of the video but are unable to take any action or investigate yet as no formal complaint has been filed. “No one has been able to get confirmation on when it happened,” a police spokesman said.

It is being assumed that the Tomic was assaulted by a bunch of angry betters due to his disappointing performance in the recently played Istanbul Challenger, where he suffered an exit in the Round of 16. He lost 2-6, 6-3, 6-7 to Dominican player Nick Hardt. It is speculated that the strangers in the video might be betters who lost money on Tomic, which ultimately led to this assault out of sheer rage.

Bernard Tomic fell down to a ranking of World No. 825 a while back, but then gradually made his way up to World No. 292 in a span of the next 18 months, which added to his confidence. However, it was not enough for him to get a wildcard entry into the Australian Open and he has since had back-to-back disappointing outings in his last few tournaments.

He has had a number of feuds with fellow Australian tennis players in the span of his career. His feud with Lleyton Hewitt in 2019 led to his relations with the Australian Open getting extremely bad. Moreover, he has had a long-running feud with Nick Kyrgios, too. The 30-year-old had a career-high rank of World No. 17 and it is sad to see him fall from the top so abruptly.
