A new champion is born and the United States of America is celebrating the triumph of 19-year-old Coco Gauff at the US Open. Saturday night in noisy New York saw the 18-year-old bridge the gap between potential and promise as Coco flavor tasted so delightful. The 19-year-old from Delray Beach, USA was dominant and fed on the ambiance of the great stage against Aryna Sabalenka.
American tennis has craved for a new champion. People like Andy Roddick had punted on Coco. This fortnight, the Black American showed character, power, and energy to deliver the KO punch. Serena was the last big champion for American women’s tennis but the birth of Coco as the latest champion is refreshing. Aryna tried a few tricks in the book in the third set to disrupt the flow of play, yet Coco showed her athletic skills and great mentality to rock New York.
This was prime-time stuff from the girl who has taken on the lead role as America’s latest champion in a global sport. Coco has shown courage, court craft in long rallies, and service power of the highest order.

Big-stage matches produce high pressure. That Coco, who also plays doubles, is ready to shoulder the load is refreshing. After all, the previous Black Beauty to have won hearts many times in the past, Serena Williams, could never produce a title triumph at the US Open after her return from her first maternity break. Serena retired in 2022 eventually.
At a time when tennis has seen the birth of new champions in the last one year plus, Coco is fresh and loved by all. She has shown poise and grabbed the limelight. Conditions in Big Apple were harsh this fortnight but Coco rose like a true champion in unusual heat and humidity. To peak in the season’s last Major is a sign Coco will push champions like Iga Swiatek hard in the future. For tennis in America, this is a defining night, a new beginning.
Well, Coco raised the bar and brought the roof down. You could be dead sure New York is going to party tonight really hard. Cheer for Coco and cheers with all the drinks to get high. That’s what Queens and Manhattan will be about in the next few hours till Sunday morning! The USA has reason to shower more love on Coco Gauff as she represents the masses as well. None can disagree.
