Former French professional tennis player Marion Bartoli has established high praise for Coco Gauff. She claimed that the American teen winning the US Open was ‘not a fluke’ in any way and that she would become a multiple Grand Slam champion and World No.1 in the future. Bartoli also attributed her early success to her un-deterring drive to succeed.

“Multiple Grand Slam winner and number one in the world, absolutely without a doubt. She’s so driven and she wants that so much,” said Bartoli as she complimented Gauff’s winning attitude. It looks so much like walking in the footsteps of Serena. Of course, it’s a big gap between winning one and winning 23, but I think she has a complete package,” said Bartoli. The former Wimbledon champion also said that Gauff thinks like a 30-year-old, despite the fact that she is 19. She also complemented Gauff’s level of fitness.

The former World No. 7 also voiced out that it was indeed a happy co-incidence that Gauff won her maiden Slam the very year after tennis legend Serena Williams had hung up her racket. This is just yet another comparison of the career trajectories of both Americans. With both Gauff and Williams having similar backgrounds and starting points in their careers, the younger American has always been compared to her idol by fans and professionals alike.
