The US Open final of the women’s singles is just a few hours away as the top two aces from the women’s division go one-on-one against one another. Coco Gauff revealed her secret to success before the final at the post-match conference after her impressive win over Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals. As some fans would have predicted her to watch matches and glimpses of Aryna Sabalenka ahead of every matchday, it was something else that Gauff found solace in.
When the moderator asked Coco Gauff about her plans following the semi-final victory, she talked about binging a few episodes of an anime series named, ‘My Hero Academia’. She was completely not paying too much heed to the finals with her inner self still buzzing over the impressive win she just accomplished. She even stated that she still hasn’t thought about what she would be carrying out ahead of the finals.
Coco Gauff talked about her pre-match routine and her secret mantra saying, “Um, press treatment, watch some anime, and…uh…no, literally, today I watched, like, four or five episodes of My Hero Academia before I played, so…I don’t know, I mean I may watch some of the match, maybe not. I don’t know I haven’t even thought that far ahead to be honest.”
Who is a step ahead in the Coco Gauff vs. Aryna Sabalenka matchup in the final?
With the women’s singles final of the US Open set to be played on Saturday, things are getting pretty heated up ahead of the match. With Aryna Sabalenka who is high in confidence after being adjudged as the new WTA World No.1 going head to head against Coco Gauff who has hardly put a foot wrong in the last few tournaments, the tennis world is pretty much pumped up for this thrilling battle.
Gauff is ahead of Sabalenka in the head-to-head matchups, with the American triumphing three times over the Belarussian compared to her 2 losses. Their last encounter was at the Indian Wells Masters this year when Sabalenka got the better of Gauff beating her on straight sets by a scoreline of 6-4, 6-0.
With both the stars eyeing their first-ever US Open title, Sabalenka will be certainly on the more pressured side considering her lack of performance in the crucial stages compared to the young free-minded Gauff.
