Comedian Brad Williams backs Serena Williams with the famous Chris Pine meme after baseless racist claims from retired white tennis players

Former World No.1 Serena Williams retired from tennis after the conclusion of her US Open run. She lost to Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of her home grand slam. Her career and legacy were the centre of attention this time as a huge amount of support came from her home crowd.

In a personal essay for Vogue, Williams cited family as one of the reasons for her retirement. She said, “Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family.” After Williams’ announcement, retired legends like Margaret Court, Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova gave their opinion about her GOAT status.

Amidst recent surge of memes of actor Chris Pine at the Don’t Worry Darling press conference, Comedian Brad Williams made a meme of his own. He captioned a photo of a zoned out Pine, “Chris Pine looks like a retired female tennis player who announces matches and doesn’t think Serena Williams plays the “right way.”

This comes after several claims made by legendary players about 6-time US Open champ Serena Williams’ career. Chris Evert recently said, “It’s all about the grand slams. Is Serena the best tennis player until this point? Absolutely. But it’s complicated when you compare careers and wins and eras. I’m not sure she has the most accomplished career.”

Evert has also been criticised for her biased commentary against Serena Williams throughout the years. Fans noticed a pattern after Evert was heavily critical of young star Coco Gauff. Fans believe that Chris Evert’s commentary is racially biased and has no grounds over the game.

On the other hand, 24-time grand-slam champion Margaret Court has said about Williams the following, “I thought it was bad that Williams didn’t mention her opponent more when she spoke. We were taught to honor our opponent. We respected one another. Serena has played seven years more than I did.
