Former World No.1, Serena Williams, ranked at the top for an astounding 319 weeks, is making headlines again. The 23-time Grand Slam Champion has been feeding comeback rumors for the past few days. The American retired from the sport after competing in the 2022 US Open championship. Unfortunately, the former six-time champion could only reach the third round.
Williams fueled rumors about her potential comeback as the star mentioned that she is ‘torn’ over her decision to return. Serena has been teasing fans for some time as she talks about her comeback in interviews. In a recent Instagram post, Williams posted a new tennis outfit which has excited fans to no extent.
The post was unclear to its intentions, as fans speculated the reason for posting the all-blue outfit. The post could be simply about promotion or an advertisement shoot. Nevertheless, fans are keeping their fingers crossed as they hope to see the American back in action. Albeit, some fans think that Serena has achieved all her goals and deserves her retirement.
Williams recently stated that she always intended to retire while still playing at a high level, but she also acknowledged that she feels she is still capable of playing at a very high level, tempting her to make a comeback. Serena appears to still be considering going back to the professional level, and her most recent appearance in plain blue Nike gear has thrilled many admirers.
Arguably the greatest tennis player of all time, in contrast, Williams has also been denied any chances of her playing again. Serena has said that she still ‘misses’ the sport and has realized that she still can play in form. She believes she can continue to play if she wishes to. However, the 41-year-old always wanted to retire when she was still at her best too.

Serena Williams’ childhood coach believes that the star will definitely make a comeback
Many people in the tennis community are still interested in Serena Williams’ prospective return to the professional tour. Rick Macci, one of her and Venus Williams’ original coaches who played a key role in their ascent to the top, recently addressed the comeback rumors and expressed his hope that the 23-time Grand Slam champion will return.
Serena and her sister Venus Williams will undoubtedly reunite for a few doubles matches, according to Macci. Since she withdrew from the 2022 US Open, the 41-year-old has been “teasing” the tennis community by making references to a comeback. It is highly unlikely that Serena will return to play singles anytime soon.
The duo last played together in the 2022 US Open, where they bowed out in the first round of the tournament itself. Their father, Richard Williams, first introduced the Williams sisters to coach Macci, who has previously worked with the likes of Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova. The Williams family moved to Florida so that the sisters could learn under Macci.
