“Complete lunacy” John Isner criticises the Joe Biden government as Novak Djokovic remains out of the US Open

World No. 6 Novak Djokovic remains out of the 2022 US Open with less than a month to go for the final Grand Slam of the season where the Serbian would have defended 1200 points had he been allowed given he was the runner-up in last year’s competition. Novak remains illegal to enter the USA as he chooses to remain unvaccinated against Covid-19 and with this stubbornness, he won’t be allowed to compete given the country requires all of its foreign visitors to show proof of vaccination.
The US government has also maintained its stance as a rule change to accommodate just one person does not look practical for them which has led to the dissection of the American constitution under which Djokovic fans are requesting the Serb to be granted a special exemption as the Grand Slam will welcome all unvaccinated players and fans provided they are American citizens.
Novak Djokovic gets support from John Isner
The American government has been having a tough time controlling these issues as support for Djokovic continues to rise. With president Joe Biden testing positive for Covid-19 twice in a fortnight, the issue is getting further fired up as the date for the US Open also approaches fast. Amidst this, Seth Dillon, CEO of the Babylon Bee, a satirical website in the USA, has been gathering support for Novak in order to make it possible for the Serb to play in the US Open this year.
Dillon recently took to Twitter and asked, “Are there any active tennis players urging the U.S. to let @DjokerNole play or nah?” to which American veteran and former World No. 8 John Isner replied, “Yes. Complete lunacy he can’t compete as of now. #science.”
Isner has been quite active in speaking against the government and the US Open mandate which sees unvaccinated Americans being part of this year’s US Open but someone like Djokovic cannot enter despite the Serb being one of the fittest persons in the world owing to his training for the sport along with the fact that he has tested positive for Covid twice already which further improves his immunity towards the virus.
