The WTA 2023 season has kicked off and WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) has confirmed the schedule for most of the tournaments until US Open. The first tournament is the United cup which started on December 28th and is scheduled until January 8th.

The detailed schedule is available on the official WTA page but there is no tweet of the calendar from the WTA official handle as yet. The Adelaide International 1, ASB Classic(Auckland), Adelaide International 2, and Hobart International are the other scheduled tournaments before the Australian Open which is scheduled between January 16 and January 29. Post Australian Open, there are 2 WTA-250 tournaments in Lyon and Thailand and one WTA-125 event in Colombia in January.

February starts with the Linz Open, followed by Qatar Open. Next will be the first WTA-1000 tournament of 2023 in Dubai. Merida and Monterrey in Mexico will host two tournaments after that. The last tournament of the month is the ATX open at Austin.

In March, two of the prestigious WTA-1000 events will be held in Indian Wells and Miami. In April, all tournaments are on clay with the WTA-1000 Madrid Open being the main highlight. Before that, the WTA scheduled their tournaments starting in Charleston followed in Bogota, Stuttgart, and Istanbul.

In May, the second Grand Slam of the season -the French Open is scheduled(May 28-June 11). Before that, the tournaments scheduled are at Saint Malo, followed by WTA-1000 at Rome, the WTA-125 event in Paris, and the WTA-250 tournaments in Rabat and Strasbourg.

Grass season begins with Rothesay Open at Nottingham, Great Britain

Even though WTA-125 Makarska Open is scheduled on clay at the beginning of June and the Valencia Open in between the month, the entire month is about Grass court tennis. Starting with WTA-250 Rothesay Open in Great Britain, the scheduled tournaments are Libema Open in the Netherlands, Bett1 Open in Berlin, Veneto Open in Italy, Rothesay Classic in Birmingham, Bad Homburg open, and again Rothesay Open, this time at Eastbourne.

July is majorly about Wimbledon (July 3-July 16). This is followed by clay court tournaments in Bastad, Contraxeville, PalermoBudapest, Iasi, Hamburg, Lausanne, and Warsaw. The tour goes back to hard court towards the end with the tournaments scheduled at San Jose and Prague.

The US Open is the main highlight of August (August 28-September 10). WTA-1000 Montreal Open and Cincinnati are also in the same month. As build-up tournaments to the Grand Slam, Hard court tournaments are scheduled at Concord, Vancouver, Cleveland, and Grandby apart from the WTA-1000 tournaments.

WTA-125 at Bari, Italy is the last scheduled tournament of the year as of now by Italy. The dates of the post-US Open tournaments are not yet finalized.
