“Craig Tiley’s failure,” Australian Open’s abysmal security ridiculed once again as ‘Chetnik’ flags seen during Novak Djokovic’s finals against Stefanos Tsitsipas

Although the fans and the world had a fantastic start to the tennis season with a successful Australian Open, there were many incidents here and there regarding the usage of banned flags and pictures on the courts. These incidents took place mostly during the matches of Russian, Belarusian, and Ukrainian players.

Often players condemned these actions saying not to include players in politics. But these incidents never stopped. One such incident was taken place during the men’s singles finals. Serbian fans were seen holding the Chetnik flag and ultra-fascist symbols. Many got offended as a result and took to social media and condemned these actions.

While others had serious objections to flying flags in a flag-free zone. Fans felt that these incidents would bring disgrace to the tournament and lose its popularity among the fans.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

On the other hand, players like Andrey Rublev had no objection to fans holding the Ukraine flag during one of his matches. He even went to the chair umpire himself and said it’s ok if they have the flag and asked the umpire not to pull them out. On the whole, this was probably the first time in a Gran Slam tournament, where there were many political issues happened. Hence fans and experts feel that it was a clear fault of Tennis Australia and urged Craig Tiley to take the responsibility for the failure.

A few fans also said Novak has the power to control these people. While others quoted that it was Novak’s fault. It’s often seen that a few people in Novak’s matches target him on purpose just to change his attention. Incidents linked to his father also took place earlier this week regarding the same issue.
