While the sports stars live and play to put on a show for their fans and get the love back from them, Medvedev was involved in a very critical incident during the matchup that led to him getting booed by the crowd.
While Medvdedv was serving during the match, two fans were walking around in the stadium, which caught the Russian’s eye and irritated him. He called them off directly, asking them, “Are you stupid or what?“. The fans didn’t take the hit too harshly and blew a kiss at him. While the entire crowd started showing boos towards him, marking yet another negative incident for the Russian at the US Open.
After finally winning the match, Medvedev was quick enough to give it back to the crowd and ask his team to leave the box, which came as a shock to many. He used his hand to lure them out of the box, leaving the entire tennis fan base stranded. Despite winning the match 6-2, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2, social media has been flooded with many hateful comments.
Who will Daniil Medvedev face in the next round?
Daniil Medvedev has looked in firm control in his previous two matches at the US Open, beating both players quite comfortably. Despite dropping a set against O’Connell in the second-round matchup, he would be expecting to not let his next opponent, Sebastian Baez, do the same thing to him when they face off against one another in the third round tomorrow.
This is the first time Medvedev will face the experienced Argentinian, and Baez has impressed the tennis fanbase with his brand of tennis in the last few months. He has won back-to-back titles at the Generali Open and the Winston-Salem Open, just ahead of the US Open. He is yet to drop a single set in the ongoing US Open, and this is going to be a major test for the Russian, who is eyeing his first Grand Slam title since his 2021 US Open win.
