Daniil Medvedev is in Australia to play at Adelaide International 1 tournament. With him some of the best male tennis players have flocked Down Under to participate in the first tournament of the season and prepare well for the Australian Open 2023. However, the most exciting name who is playing in this tournament is Novak Djokovic, who came to Australia after the deportation fiasco.

The Serb is the biggest threat for the World No. 7’s chances at this tournament. He is in sublime form since winning the Wimbledon 2022 gentlemen’s singles title. He is in Australia with just a single motive- to win his career’s tenth Australian Open title.

“One of them has a lot of titles and quite likes to play in Australia. I think he didn’t lose for a long time here, but I’m going to watch their match. You never know what is going to happen. Denis is such a strong player, and even if he didn’t manage to beat Novak yet, this moment is going to come one day, because he is such a strong player. So I am gonna watch their match and prepare for the winner,” the 2022 Australian Open finalist said.

Tennis fans will be waiting for the 2021 Australian Open finalists to play once again in Australia. If Novak Djokovic is able to defeat Denis Shapovalov, then he will get his chance to play in the semi-final round of the Adelaide International 1 tournament. This will be their first meeting this season.

However, both the former World No. 1s have met each other multiple times in their respective careers in ATP and Grand Slam tournaments. Their first meeting took place in the Davis Cup of 2017. Here, current World No.5 defeated Daniil Medvedev. The Russian registered his victory against the nine-time Australian Open champion in the Quater-final round of the Monte-Carlo Masters in 2019.

The 7-time Wimbledon champion leads 12-8 in head-to-head wins-losses ratio against the ATP Finals 2020 champion. However, the 26-year-old has the honor of beating the 35-year-old in a Grand Slam final. The two met in the 2021 US Open final, where Daniil Medvedev defeated Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
