Russian tennis ace Daniil Medvedev earned heaps of praise from the fans as he broke Jannik Sinner in the very first set of the 2024 Australian Open final.
The World No. 3 did not look intimidated by the big serves from Sinner as Medvedev returned with ease. This led to fans comparing the Russian ace with Novak Djokovic who struggled in the semifinal against Sinner.
As the Serbian ace lost to Sinner in four sets, Medvedev taking the lead against the Italian led to fans rating the Russian higher than the 24-time Grand Slam title champion. Social media was filled with posts praising Medvedev.
A user went on to call Medvedev the greatest returner of all time.

Daniil Medvedev takes the first two sets but Jannik Sinner bounces back
Daniil Medvedev completely dominated Jannik Sinner in the first two sets as he won them 6-3. The Russian won three games on the trot, despite losing the first game. He lost the fifth set as well. Sinner then won the seventh game but Medvedev closed the game by winning two games on the trot.
In the second set, Medvedev claimed the first game. However, Sinner came back strong as he won a closely-fought game. But Medvedev won four games back-to-back to maintain a big lead. Despite Sinner winning the next two games, the Russian won the set by winning the ninth game.
In the third set, Sinner fought back and claimed the third set 6-4 to stay alive in the contest. The two players fought till the very end as Sinner and Medvedev won games alternately. However, the Italian ace managed to win two games on the trot to clinch the set.
