“Roland Garros will be hard for him,” Daniil Medvedev discusses Novak Djokovic’s chance to win his third Grand Slam

Djokovic and Medvedev

The Russian star, Daniil Medvedev believes that it will be difficult for Novak Djokovic to win his third Grand Slam in the upcoming Roland Garros. Speaking in a recent interview he lauded the Serbian for his unbelievable skills and talent. However, Medvedev predicted that the world No.1, will fall short of winning the French Open 2023.

Talking about himself, Medvedev has some serious targets for the rest of the season after starting it on a high. Although Djokovic hasn’t won a calendar slam, if he wins the Roland Garros title this year, it will be his third one on clay making him win his third Grand Slam. That is winning all four Grand Slam titles three times. However, according to Medvedev, it will be quite difficult for the 35-year-old.

Speaking in a recent interview, Medvedev said, “Novak is obsessed because he wanted to break all the records and he is trying to do it. I think Roland Garros will be hard for him, difficult to achieve ( to complete the Grand Slam ). But all other records, many are already in his favor. I know I probably don’t have enough time to do those things, nor enough skill or talent to break these tennis records.”

He further continued talking about his goals and said, “But for sure I will do everything I can to regain control of tennis. And I know that to do that, I need to win Slams and dominate the Masters 1,000.” With Djokovic already missing out on playing the Indian Wells Open, it will be another golden chance for Daniil Medvedev to win the title and continue his good form.

Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz are favorites for the Indian Wells title

According to the current form in the year 2023, Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz are quite ahead of the others. Although the season started below their expectations for both players, they are currently in good touch. Alcaraz made a brilliant comeback from injury while Medvedev made amends for his loss in the Australian Open.

Speaking about Alcaraz, Medvedev said, “I never really played with him at the top. I trained with him a couple of times and he has incredible talent and skills. I saw some of his matches in Buenos Aires. It is not easy to come back after an injury. He won the tournament by unleashing forehands. It would make me happy to play with him and I hope he stays healthy, because it will be interesting for tennis.”

All in all, despite fans missing the likes of Djokovic and Nadal for the Indian Wells Open, they have many young talented players who can upset anyone on their day. It will be interesting for fans and audiences across the globe to see who lifts the trophy in California.
