World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev has been one of the most consistent and prolific tennis players this year getting decent results wherever he has played. But he bowed out of the ongoing ATP Finals, the year-end silverware that every top tennis star wants to finish their season with. He was beaten by Italian hotshot Jannik Sinner in a three-set thrilling encounter.

In the 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 loss, the thing that caught the eyes of several tennis fans was the chaos that occurred between him and a spectator in the crowd. When asked at the post-match conference about the incident, Medvedev spoke about how he lost his calm at that very moment having lost a couple of points. This is why he reacted in that manner but later also congratulated the crowd for the consistent support that he had received throughout the competition.

Medvedev said after the match:

To be honest, nothing. I lost my head a bit more because I lost a break. I will be honest, the crowd was very nice here in Turin throughout the week. Again, as I said before the match, it's normal that they support Sinner. But when I was doing some good shots, I felt a lot of… it's not support, but a lot of applauses, which was very nice. I think in general it was fine. I felt good energy on the court.

Daniil Medvedev ends the 2023 season in tears:

Another year of great performance from the big Russian as he ends his 2023 season with a ranking of 3 in the ATP rankings. Daniil Medvedev didn’t have a bad year by any means despite not racking up Grand Slam titles. He started his year off with a title at the Rotterdam Open followed by two titles in the Asian subcontinent.

After winning the Dubai Championships and the Qatar Open, he won his first Masters title of the year at the Italian state of Rome.

His last silverware came at the Miami Masters and since then he has last a couple of decent runs in the competitions he has participated in. He has a win/loss record of 64/16 this year and would be in good spirits leading up to the Australian Open next year.
