Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev is the latest one to join the group of people who are against Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas, as he called the ATP Finals a much bigger and more prestigious tournament than any major Grand Slam.

For context, the 2019 ATP Finals champion claimed that winning an ATP Final held more value than winning a major Slam. Adding further to his point, Stefanos Tsitsipas stated:

I would consider it probably a bigger thing than a Slam, honestly. It has big prestige and it's a very valuable asset if you're able to conquer and win it.

However, fellow tennis player and rival Daniil Medvedev seemed to disagree with this statement and held a Grand Slam above everything.

Many tennis fans were quite critical of this comment made by the 2023 Australian Open finalist. Even fellow tennis player Daniil Medvedev replied to this controversial statement by the Greek saying:

For me its a Grand Slam.

The Russian justified his answer by explaining how playing a best of five sets is always a challenging task. He also stressed the point that there are more matches that are supposed to be won, and that too in the knockout form of a tournament as well.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has his own reasons to believe that an ATP Final holds more value than a Grand Slam. Adding further to his point, the World No. 6 mentioned:

We all gather together, and we get to play against each other and focus on the fact that we are the best in the world trying to fight for this mega trophy, which is a grand prize in our sport. It means a lot.

Stefanos Tsitsipas impressed the tennis world by winning the 2019 ATP Finals

The 2021 French Open finalist, Stefanos Tsitsipas, left the tennis world in splits by winning the 2019 ATP Finals, defeating then-World No. 5 Dominic Thiem in a thrilling three-set finals match. The Greeks overcame a difficult draw, beating the likes of Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, and Rafael Nadal to reach the finals and lift the trophy for the first time.

Talking about how the ATP Finals are a coming together of all the big players kind of event, Stefanos stated:

It's a whole celebration. The ATP Finals is a commemoration and celebration of the best of the best in our sport.

Stefanos Tsitsipas holds the belief that an ATP Finals win is more valuable and prestigious than winning a major Grand Slam. While the Greek professional has not won the latter, he has another chance to win this ATP Final in Turin if he improves his recent form.
