Daniil Medvedev has a clear preference for hard courts and would like the entire ATP Tour to be played on this surface. Despite his preference, Medvedev has been performing well on clay courts recently, having won four out of five consecutive finals, including the Miami Masters. The Russian had struggled with a loss of confidence towards the end of 2022 and the start of 2023, but has now regained his form.
Although Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz can play their usual style on clay, Daniil Medvedev recognizes that he needs to make some adjustments to his game to accommodate the unique characteristics of the surface. “I definitely have to change a little bit because my, my strokes are too flat and clay doesn’t let it go through the court enough and often opponents can use it,” he said.
Initially, Daniil Medvedev faced difficulties on clay in the early years of his professional career, but he has learned to accept and appreciate the surface to some extent. He managed to reach the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros in 2021, which marked a significant improvement after a series of first-round exits. In 2023, he plans to compete on clay again, despite his personal preference for hard courts. His impressive 29-3 record this year has given him the confidence to do so.

Andrey Rublev named as godfather to Daniil Medvedev’s daughter Alisa
According to sources, Andrey Rublev has been chosen as the godfather to Daniil Medvedev’s daughter, Alisa. Medvedev and his wife, Daria Medvedeva, got married in 2018 and recently became parents to Alisa Danilovna, who was born on October 14, 2022.
A photo was shared on April 8 by a friend of the Medvedevs which showed Daniil Medvedev, his wife, and Andrey Rublev together. The caption on the post suggested that the picture was taken during the baptism of Daniil’s daughter, Alisa. “Friends that become family. Celebrating Alisa Danilovna,” captioned the Instagram post. Another Instagram post by a Rublev fan claimed that the 25-year-old tennis player has been chosen as Alisa’s godfather.
