The 2023 Paris Masters couldn’t have gotten any better, as there have already been some major upsets in the tournament. First, there was a huge upset as Carlos Alcaraz got an early exit ticket. Now, World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev lost in his first match of the Paris Masters.

The Round of 32 match between Grigor Dimitrov and Daniil Medvedev was the highlight of the day, as the Bulgarian staged a huge win against Daniil. With a score of 6-3, 6(4)-7, 7-6(2), Grigor played phenomenally well throughout the game and did not give an inch for Medvedev to capitalize.

After a nail-biting finish, Grigor Dimitrov records another win against Daniil Medvedev. However, following the major defeat, the tennis professional showed his middle finger to the Paris crowd in response to the continuous booing. Although he tried to make it quite subtle, the videos caught him flipping off the crowd.

Emotions run very high on the court, and Medvedev, who is considered a very animated player, does not hesitate to show his emotions on the court. He has had a few unhappy encounters with the fans in the past as well. 

Daniil Medvedev responds to the middle finger accusation

After a heated match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and Daniil Medvedev, the Russian was clearly seen showing the middle finger to the Paris crowd. However, when asked about the same during the post-match interview, the player clearly denied the accusations. Daniil Medvedev said:

Middle finger? Oh no, I just looked at my nail like that. Why would I do that to this beautiful Parisian audience?

Grigor Dimitrov is extremely relieved and delighted to win against the Russian. He showed extreme maturity throughout the match, playing a few crowd-winning shots. 

This is his third win against the Russian out of nine matches, and with this, the Bulgarian moves on to the Round of 16 of the tournament. He now faces Alexander Bublik and would love to go deep in the tournament. Dimitrov lost in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Paris Masters against Carlos Alcaraz and would be eager to turn the tables by winning the match and doing better than last year.
