In the history of the Australian Open, there have been multiple comebacks to stun the world. Adding to the list is Daniil Medvedev who staged a comeback to remember. From down two sets, the Russian went on to win the match against Alexander Zverev in five sets. 

What seemed like his worst performance at the start of the match turned out to be one of his most memorable comebacks. Displaying immense mental strength and skill, the Russian flipped the tide at the correct moment to win the match. After 4 long hours, Medvedev finished the game and had to do his iconic celebrations. Different players get different celebrations and Zverev in this case, had to witness the Russian mouth the word “Karma” after the win.

This new celebration by Medvedev got a lot of fans thinking and speculating reasons for doing this. Many speculate the word Karma was used for Zverev’s supposed actions. The German was accused of physical violence by his ex-girlfriends and fans reckon that this celebration might be related to the case.

Others also speculate the word is related to the Netflix show “Break Point”. Zverev had an episode to his name, where he lost to Medvedev and had spoken about karma. Fans reckon that Medvedev might have reacted this way as a response to what Zverev had previously said to the press.

There have been many talks on Medvedev’s karma celebration after a thrilling semi-final win against Alexander Zverev. While fans come up with different theories and speculations, the Russian ends all discussions during his press meeting.

During the Ao Press meeting, Medvedev was asked about his celebration, and to the despair of the fans, there was no such drama from his end. In fact, Medvedev insisted on not even mouthing the word karma. Again going back on his words of not engaging and poking players, the Russian said that he never intended to celebrate like that. 

Furthermore, he said that he told something to his team about mental strength and had nothing to do with “karma”. Having said this, it ends all the debate on the internet as the fans go back to cheering the World No.3 for the finals. Medvedev will face Jannik Sinner in an epic Australian Open final.
