The Japan Open has started, and the complaints have already started pouring in. The scorching heat at the tournament has ignited a fiery debate about the players’ safety. Daria Kasatkina, the youngster for Russia, expressed her discontentment with the organizers for not improving the conditions for the athletes to play.

Daria won the round of 16 in the Japan Open against Despina Papamichail in two straight sets. The final score was 6-4, 6-4, where the Russian pretty much dominated the entire game. During the post-match interview, she expressed her disappointment in the organizers for not closing the retractable roof, despite the sweltering conditions.

When asked about how she handles the heat, she said,“Well, we cannot use and do much about it. We are using the ice towels, some supplements to keep yourself hydrated. By the end you cannot fight with the something you cannot control,” Said Daria in the post-match interview.

The young tennis professional further added, “I think maybe in this kind of conditions if you have a roof better maybe to close it. If you have these opportunities, I think you can use it than to make players almost die on the field.”

Notably, many other players have complained about the scorching heat in Japan and the inconsiderate organizers.

Fans praise Daria Kasatkina for being the nicest person ever

In the Round of 32 match between Russia’s Daria Kasatkina and Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the Ukrainian refused to take a picture with the Russian due to the ongoing war between the two countries. “I totally understand their standpoint in general, but Kasatkina is exactly the player they should shake hands and take pictures with. She is the nicest and most outspoken Russian player of them all. What else could she possibly do?” said an enraged fan on X.
