Former Spanish tennis player David Ferrer pointed out the intricate difference between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in a recent interview. Analyzing the styles of both players, the three-time Davis Cup champion stated one major weapon that the current World No. 1 possesses that he can use to stand apart while facing the 23-time Grand Slam title winner. 

“They’re very even, and it comes down to small details. Carlos changes the equation in his favor when he takes over the initiative in points. If he’s not able to do that and to put Novak under pressure,” said David Ferrer when questioned about the keys to victory for both of them. (H/T: Tennis Majors

“Djokovic is a bit more consistent in rallies and when it comes to timing of the shots, but when Carlos is able to hit with great speed and come forward, that’s when he can hurt Djokovic,” he added.

Talking about the sensational Cincinnati Open final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz that went in favor of the Serb, Ferrer said that the margins are always very slow when these two players take on each other. In the Cincinnati Open, Novak refused to break mentally, and that is what made the difference. However, things were different in the Wimbledon final, where Novak had his chances but was unable to snatch the victory.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic might face each other in the US Open 2023 Final

Being the first and second seeds in the tournament, respectively, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic can only meet each other in the final of the US Open, and fans are very optimistic about that happening. Carlos Alcaraz has already beaten Dominik Koepfer in the first round by a walkover. He will now be facing Lloyd Harris in the second round. 

Novak Djokovic, on the other hand, has already reached the third round of the tournament. He defeated Alexandre Muller in the first round and Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the second round. Both those victories came in straight sets, which shows that the Serb is in sensational form. He will be facing another Serbian player, Laslo Djere, in the third round. The chances of a final between him and Carlos Alcaraz are really high, and if it really does happen, the fans will be in for a treat.
