Many players are facing immense difficulty due to the extreme temperature and humid conditions during the ongoing US Open. World No. 2 Novak Djokovic complained about the same after his quarterfinal match against American tennis player Taylor Fritz. Despite his win, the Serb faced some difficulties during the match. Following this incident, Serbian tennis expert Bogdan Obradović had some bold opinions about the situation.
Obradović, who was also Serbia’s former Davis Cup captain, said that Novak Djokovic was ‘forced’ to play in immense conditions, although the roofs could be simply put on. “It is absolutely certain that Novak played in specific conditions. They fixed those stadiums by putting roofs on, but if the roof doesn’t close all the way, you have that humidity,” he said.
“The roof itself includes air conditioning. If it’s not closed all the way, you don’t have air conditioning, so you make a pot for boiling eggs, not a tennis stadium. The fact that Novak and Fritz showed nervousness in some moments largely stems from that,” added the 56-year-old.
Bogdan Obradović opined that it is impossible to play in such inhumane conditions as the players sweat a lot. Novak Djokovic does not sweat normally, but in the match against Taylor Fritz, it seemed like a bucket of water was thrown over him; the conditions were so difficult and extreme.
