Scandinavian players Holger Rune and Casper Ruud have been known for their internal conflict. After a dispute between these two players, people closely watched the matches for more drama. 

However, after their match, Rune stayed back a day extra to witness Ruud play in the final of the Mexican Open. Earlier on, the two Scandinavians had faced off in the semi-finals. Coming back from a set down, Ruud managed to pull off a win and enter the finals in Mexico.

Among the many people present was also the young Dane Rune, who was present with his coach Patrick Mouratoglou. They watched the match as Ruud lost in a straight-set battle against Australian Alex De Minaur. However, the fans were shocked by the presence of the Dane, even after their small dispute back in 2022.

At the 2022 French Open, the two Scandinavians had a minor spat on the ground, which led to people believing that they were enemies. Ruud had won that matchup, and soon his opponent had accused him of showing a lack of respect. With Rune present at Ruud’s match, it seemed like their 2-year rivalry was over. 

Both Mouratoglou and Rune were present, hinting at the possibility that the finals were very informative and helpful for both of them.

After a couple of tough matches in the quarter-final and the semi-final, respectively, Ruud first had to come back against the American Ben Shelton to qualify for the semis. In the same fashion, the 25-year-old beat Rune to make his way to the finals.

Unfortunately, it was not Ruud’s day; who could not present answers to the question by Alex De Minaur. He lost in straight sets, as the Australian was crowned new champion. 6-4,6-4 was the score, and De Minaur even got crowned the new champion of Mexico. 

But, it has been a couple of years since the spat, and now both the players seem cool, despite their last encounter. The Mexican Open has concluded, as the tour shifts to the USA, as the players gear up for the Sunshine Double. The Indian Wells is first, as both the players gear up for their run in the outdoor hard courts of California.
