Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic won his 7th Wimbledon title at the finals of Wimbledon Championship 2022 on 10th July 2022 defeating Nick Kyrgios, who was playing his first-ever major final. It was an exciting and thrilling match where the experience of a 28-matching streak at Wimbledon showed why he is the greatest and he is a force to reckon now. He is just one away from equaling Rafael Nadal‘s most Grand Slam titles.

Djokovic and Kyrgios had met earlier two times. But this time started Nick’s comment of having a level of bromance between them shook their fans as Kyrgios stood by Djokovic during his difficult times at the beginning of the year during the Australian Open 2022. Novak appreciated the support extended by Kyrgios as he had never expected it to come from him. He went on to say,” I don’t know if it is a bromance or not, but definitely have a better relationship now”.

Post his win, Novak Djokovic shared a video on his Instagram thanking everyone for the congratulatory wishes and he hoped a have a cup at the famous balcony of the Centre Court. Nick, on the same post, reminded Novak about the dinner plans together they had agreed on , with the condition being the one who wins will pay for the dinner.

Djokovic, replied to this saying, “He had called all the restaurants but couldn’t get a table as everything was booked in London. Hopefully their dinner will be in NYC. Fingers crossed“. But on the contrary, Djokovic is uncertain if he will be able to play at the US Open 2022 which starts next month as he is unvaccinated at the moment and has no intention to getting himself vaccinated anytime soon. As far as the rules for playing at the US open aren’t changed, he won’t be able to play. If he doesn’t play, then their dinner will have to wait for a bit longer.

He expects that the US Government gives a decision in his fair and if he is allowed to play, he will have a chance for his 4th US Open title and his 22nd singles Grand Slam title overall equaling Nadal’s tally of most Grand Slam.
