Elena Rybakina admitted that she would rather play tennis than do modeling after earning a deserved victory against American Taylor Townsend in the Miami Open. With this triumph, the 24-year-old continued her winning streak of 19 out of 22 matches this season.
A few days before the Indian Wells Masters, Rybakina took a series of photoshoots with Timur Uteshbekov, who is based in Dubai.
On a cropped polo and skirt on the Dubai beach, Rybakina almost looked like a model. The Grand Slam winner stunned fans with her stylish dress and model-like poses, eliciting a plethora of reactions online.
During her on-court interview, the 24-year-old was asked whether she liked being a model in front of the camera or a player on a tennis court. As expected, the tennis player inside her chooses the sport that she loves with all her heart over the glamorous world.
I prefer to be on the tennis court for sure. It was something fun to do outside of the court. I had a little bit of time. I’m not used to it, but it turned out really nice.Rybakina said
Rybakina recently withdrew from the BNP Paribas Open due to illness. She has reached the final of the Doha Open and earlier won the Brisbane International this season. In Miami, the World No. 4 is looking strong, defeating Townsend 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-4 to advance to the fourth round of the Masters tournament.
The former Wimbledon champion, who has won seven of her last eight matches in Miami, would face the American Madison Keys in the next round of the Florida-based tournament.
Elena Rybakina to play Madison Keys in Miami
Elena Rybakina will play Madison Keys in the fourth round of the Miami Open. Keys, who beat Chinese Wang Xinyu 6-4, 7-6, will be hoping for an upset against Rybakina. Also, the American looks stronger than Rybakina, who seems to just be coming off of an illness in California.
The tennis player was hoping to defend her BNP Paribas Open title but wasn’t able to compete. However, in the second Sunshine event, Kazakhstan has been playing well despite not being her best. Her last two wins in Miami have been three-set victories, making it difficult to predict despite being a favorite.
Meanwhile, Keys will be aiming for her first quarterfinal reach of the season. The American crashed out of Indian Wells in the second round after losing to Yulia Putintseva 4-6, 1-6. On the other hand, Rybakina has won one WTA title and two finals in four tournaments this season.
