During the press conference after her first-round win against the American Shelby Rogers in the first round of Wimbledon, Elena Rybakina was asked about how she feels about the ‘Big 3’ topic which includes Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and herself. She calmly spoke about it by dismissing it and saying it was too early to be having that discussion right now.
Hailing from Kazakhstan, 24-year-old Elena is currently ranked No 3 in the world. She defeated Shelby Rogers in the first round of Wimbledon in 3 sets after dropping the first set 4-6 and winning the next two sets 6-1 6-1.
Elena will be aiming to defend her title from last year which she claimed after defeating Ons Jabeur. The Kazakh has started well and will be hoping to continue the momentum when she takes the court for her second-round match.

What Elena Rybakina has to say about the Big 3 discussion?
Elena Rybakina is considered a part of the next Big 3 alongside Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka. At the press meeting, a reporter asked her if she thinks it’s appropriate names for the Big 3 list or if can many more names be added to it. To that, Elena replied that at this point it’s too early to say that just about 3 players and pointed out there are more good players.
She also brushed aside the comparison with the Big 3 of Men’s tennis saying it’s not like it used to be with Roger or Novak and is still too far to be thinking about this. Rybakina was also asked if she followed the headlines about the new Big 3 and for that Elena replied saying she only hears from the press conferences and that she doesn’t follow them so much on the internet. She also added ‘’There are still a lot of good players. I think it’s too early to say anything about just three players’’
She said she doesn’t lose focus due to such discussions because it’s still too early to think about it and that anyone can beat anyone on tour and nothing can be said about it. ‘’It’s not like it was Roger or Djokovic. It’s still too far. ‘’ Elena said.
