The Ukrainian-French alliance of Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils has been massively loved by the crowd. They do so many activities together to the extent that in this French Open, both have played a very tough game each.

Svitolina, after her comeback victory over Storm Sanders, after being set down, was asked if she saw her husband’s match last night. Gael Monfils himself played a five-set thriller. Svitolina did answer, and her answer won many hearts.

She did say that she wasn’t present in his match in the stadium. However, she stayed back home and supported him like anything. “Yes I watched him but not live. I was screaming in my room. It was an unbelievable match and I don’t know what he is doing here now. He should be resting. I am really thankful for him to come and support me. Especially after this tough match.

So yea looking forward to his next round and wish him all the best.” She also wished him the best of luck for his next match and the fans absolutely loved that gesture of hers. The crowd has been very impressed by both Monfils and Svitolina on how they handle themselves on the personal front. Both have had their tough moments but they are always there for each other.

Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina get exactly that needed support. Both have had their share of challenges in their careers. Both have been plagued by injuries quite often. Moreover, they have stayed there for each other and have stayed happy on most occasions.

Svitolina did point out this very fact in her on-court interview after her second-round win, saying, “We support each other in the tough moments. So that we get moments like today and yesterday for Gael. I hope you guys support Gael tomorrow like you did yesterday and you support him all the way through the tournament.” Svitolina also got the crowd engaged by telling them to support her husband in his second-round match.

Monfils has a tough battle in his second-round contest as he takes on one of the dark horses of the event. Holger Rune is up next for the Frenchman. It’ll be a miracle to beat Rune considering his current form, but if he manages to draw, the door will open big time. Can Monfils bring all his experience to court?
