The 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, faced the wrath of former British player Ann Jones for frequently changing her coach and management team after failing to make a comeback to the sport.

The 1969 Wimbledon champion, Ann Jones, was quick to criticize the former World No. 10 for removing her coach, Andrew Richardson, right after she had won the US Open in 2021.

It is very sad. Well, what did she think we all did? We had to find our own answers. You have to work at things yourself. To fire a coach after she had just won the US Open was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.

Furthermore, the former player stressed the fact that the former British No. 1 player should have used this momentum going forward in her career as she had just come out of winning the US Open.

She was not on the same page as Emma Raducanu for having fired her successful coach after her fairytale victory in the United States. Ann Jones expressed how the 21-year-old should have used her winning streak to her advantage rather than changing the management with whom she had achieved her maiden Grand Slam title to date.

She was also of the opinion of always banking on your natural game rather than having different coaches change the way you play, resulting in unnecessary injuries.

The results are clear. You get injured, because it’s not natural for you to hit the ball in that way. It was natural to hit it the way you hit it in the first place.

Ann Jones talks about Emma Raducanu’s chance towards a comeback to the sport

The former Wimbledon champion feels that Emma Raducanu must resort to her natural game as she prepares to make a comeback to the tennis court after an extended break.

How do you recover your natural game after it has been changed? It’s very difficult to find what you had before. I think she’s really enjoyed winning and I don’t think she wants to lose now. It’s a waste and we could do with a champion here.
