Emma Raducanu faced a fourth round exit at the Indian Wells, after losing to Iga Swiatek in straight sets. The 2021 US Open champion was competing in her first tournament after the Australian Open, where she was knocked out in the second round itself. The Briton enjoyed a pretty decent week at the Indian Wells Open, before being humbled by Iga Swaitek in the fourth round.

Emma Raducanu had a rather poor 2022 season, where she failed to win a single WTA title. After her 2021 US Open triumph, many fans and pundits expected the Briton to have a successful 2022 season. However, as things panned out, recurring injuries played a major part in her poor form last year.

Emma Raducanu has plenty of things to work on this season, with her fitness being a top priority. “I think I’m going to be one of the best athletes on the tour. And, that’s going to be a big part of my game,” said Raducanu.

The 2021 US Open champion made an honest self-assessment of herself, claiming that she is performing at even less than 50% of her potential. The Briton revealed that she has not been training to her maximum capacity just yet, and her coaching team is aware about this.

“I would honestly say like 35%. “Yeah, like when I’m telling you I haven’t trained, like I haven’t trained (smiling). Physically I feel like that’s going to be one of my biggest assets,” said Raducanu.

She also heaped praise on Iga Swiatek, who she believes is miles ahead of her at the moment. Emma Raducanu stated that her game got better towards the end of the first set, but being constantly involved in long rallies had her worn out.
