Canadian tennis star Emma Raducanu, who rose to instant fame two years ago after her historic US Open triumph, has slowly faded away. After numerous injuries and several bad performances, the young tennis prospect is nowhere the entire tennis industry would have hoped for her to be at the moment. French coach Patrick Mouratoglou recently sat down with the Eurosport team for an interview where he discussed the future of the Canadian star.
One thing that Raducanu has done in the last few months is that she has constantly switched coaches and changed her training staff in the hope of finally finding her much-needed form and confidence.
Mouratoglou was asked to comment on this work process of Raducanu, and the Frenchman instantly remarked that it is one of the worst things that a tennis player can do. That’s not all; he also ruled out the chances of Raducanu benefiting from this process.
As per the former tennis professional himself, having different coaches from time to time can make players end up with a lot of different suggestions and opinions in their minds, leading to too much confusion.
That’s the worst thing you can do. Because at the end, you don't know what to do. You have different voices. I believe, this is my opinion, but I believe that one of the key to success is to have one voice that you believe in, one project and to go straight from A to B.He said via Eurosports
Patrick Mouratoglou warns Emma Raducanu
Patrick Mouratoglou marked the idea of Emma Raducanu’s idea of changing coaches constantly as a mad idea in itself. He feels that too many coaches will lead to too many tactics, which will put Raducanu in a bad place soon.
Otherwise, you're going zigzag all the time, and you, again, the more voices, the more ideas, the more lost you are as a player. It's very complex. It's very difficult to be a tennis player and you need clarity. That's the most important thing. And when there are many voices, there is no clarity at all.He said
Mouratoglou expresses his concerns about Raducanu’s thought process, as he feels that her head is not in the right place at the moment. He gives her a headstart about how complex things can turn out if she doesn’t settle for a single coaching team.
She will have too many voices to deal with, which will in turn result in a lack of clarity, building more pressure on her shoulders.
