Emma Raducanu’s Wimbledon dreams crushed by a resilient Caroline Garcia

Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu’s defeat over Caroline Garcia in the second round of the Wimbledon tournament made her return a letdown. The Frenchwoman defeated the British player 6-3, 6-3, in straight sets. This victory over Raducanu marks her first win against a top-20 opponent since 2020.

The French player was once a tremendously good player, but in recent years, she has fallen short of her talent. She recently won the award in Bad Homburg after rediscovering some magic on grass this year. She then put on some outstanding performances at Wimbledon, including this one today against Raudcanu. The strategy was simple, attack and attack early.

Caroline Garcia’s strategy was too tough for Emma Raducanu to handle

Caroline Garcia‘s strategy worked rather well because Raducanu was not able to handle all that pressure. She struggled significantly with her backhand during the entire match, and she was unprepared for Garcia’s volleying. The French player prioritised playing quick points and sprinting to the net whenever she had the opportunity. It worked flawlessly, especially during the opening set.

Raducanu did not put in a horrible effort; instead, a better player at the moment took charge of the game early on and never let go. Both the first and second sets were decided by scores of 6-3. While Emma Raudcanu occasionally had signs of being in good form, she was ultimately defeated by a competitor who was riding a very long winning streak.
