Emma Watson surprised the tennis world by making an appearance at the US Open match. She was at the tournament to witness the All-American clash between Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton. The Briton was seen at the event along with Roger Federer‘s close friend and editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour.
The Flushing Meadows is no stranger to multiple-star appearances. The 2023 version of the tournament alone saw a plethora of stars, including former American president and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama. The star-studded guest list at the US Open also included Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber. However, on day nine of the affair, it was the ‘Harry Potter’ star who graced the occasion.
The heat of New York was nothing compared to the heat Emma Watson brought with her to the quarter-final match at the US Open. Attired in a stunning black dress, the 33-year-old actor was truly a sight to behold. The US Open has always been a star-studded occasion. While it is no surprise when high-profile celebrities and guests frequent the event, it never fails to turn heads when a celebrity is in the stands.
While the match was studded with guests, the main stars of the event were the two Americans playing the match. Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton went head to head against each other in the quarter-final match at American Major.
Ben Shelton defeats Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-final
Shelton beat fellow American and 10th-seeded Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-final at the 2023 US Open. The 20-year-old American defeated Tiafoe in four sets, with a score 2-6, 6-3, 6-7, 2-6 in his favor. Shelton is the only American left in the tournament, with all his other compatriots defeated in earlier rounds.
The young American is set to face Serbian veteran Novak Djokovic in the semi-final match. His best-ever finish at a Grand Slam tournament has been at the 2023 US Australian Open. However, with the win against Tiafoe, the US Open 2023 becomes his first semi-final appearance.
Ben Shelton has proven his worth throughout the tournament by playing his best tennis. However, his toughest competitor yet awaits him in the semi-final. Shelton will find quite the challenge to overcome in the form of Novak if he wishes to enter the final.
