“Even while unvaccinated migrants pour in,” Famous journalist calls out the ‘Double Standards’ in not allowing Novak Djokovic for the US Open
Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic, the 35-year-old Serbian professional is undoubtedly one of the greatest tennis players of all time, with 21 Grand Slam titles to his name, Novak Djokovic has cemented his place among the all-time greats of the sport. He has been going toe-to-toe with both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for winning and still has managed to come out on top.
There is no doubt that Novak Djokovic is one of the all-time greats, the Serb would have even more glory and titles if not for the pandemic and the ongoing controversies that always seem to surround Djokovic. The Serb’s stance regarding the Covid-19 vaccine has hindered his participation in many tournaments.
Novak Djokovic’s entry at the US Open is still uncertain
It has been weeks since Novak Djokovic’s entry into the US and his participation at the US Open is being discussed, Novak Djokovic made it clear very early on that he had decided against getting vaccinated for the Coronavirus, while many fans supported his decision and understood that it was a personal decision, there were many people who bashed the Serbian for ignoring the guidelines. As a result of his decision, there have been many tournaments where Djokovic has not been allowed to participate.
The same thing is happening as the US Open looms ever closer, the Wimbledon champion has not been granted entry into the country unless he gets vaccinated, even the CDC changing its rules hasn’t had an effect on the situation. Top journalist Scott Morefield took to Twitter to call CDC out.
He said, “Not letting Novak Djokovic – the world’s greatest tennis player – in because he’s unvaccinated even while unvaccinated migrants pour in and the CDC acknowledges no difference is the kind of performative, double-standard nonsense that lost the public trust in the first place.“
It is a matter of time before we see whether or not, Novak Djokovic will be allowed to play at the US Open. The Serbian last played at Wimbledon where he beat Nick Kyrgios in the finals of the event.
