The seventh edition of the Laver Cup is set to begin on Friday, September 22nd. Team Europe will be headed by Bjorn Borg, whereas Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime will lead the defending champs, Team World. The tennis fans, however, have expressed disappointment at the high prices for the tickets to the matches.
Unlike last year’s edition of the tournament, which featured all four members of the Big 4, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, ands Andy Murray, the teams on both sides look very different. Fans have critiqued the high ticket prices at the event despite the absence of top seeds at the tournament.
The upcoming edition of the games features several big names. However, none of the top five seeds will be seen at the Laver Cup in 2023. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal retired from the sport last year. The 24-time Grand Slam title winner, Novak Djokovic, is currently playing at the Davis Cup, where he is representing his country of Serbia.
Though some of the best-ranked players are missing, the Laver Cup is not entirely devoid of them. Team World will be headed by Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime and will include tenth seed Frances Tiafoe and World No. 9 Taylor Fritz.
They will be joined by fellow Americans, World No. 14 Tommy Paul, as well as US Open semi-finalist Ben Shelton. On the other hand, Team Europe will include Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Gael Monfils, and Casper Ruud, who will be representing the continent.

Social Media bashes Roger Federer over high prices of tickets at the Laver Cup
Tennis enthusiasts and fans bashed the Laver Cup over the high prices of tickets for the matches. Many also criticized how the event is exclusive to men and discriminates against the rest. The internet also called out Roger Federer and other co-founders of the event.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
Some fans questioned the point of the Laver Cup, while others pointed out that one could get tickets for five days of matches at other tournaments instead of for one match at the event. Many were furious at how much the composition of the team changed from what had previously been advertised.
The Laver Cup, reportedly, is also facing difficulties selling their tickets to the fans. Only a handful of seats have been sold, and many of the already-bought ones have been resold. Several people are selling the tickets online.
