World No 2 Rafael Nadal had flown down to London especially to be part of Roger Federer’s farewell at the 2022 Laver Cup. Though they had been great rivals, but with passing time, they went on to become very good friends on and off the court. They both shared a special camaraderie with mutual admiration for each other which was noticed during Federer’s retirement evening.

Though Federer had been missing from action since Wimbledon 2021 due to his knee surgery, it was quick a shock for his fans to see the champion bid adieu to the sport. His farewell evening was very emotional that left everyone present in the O2 Arena in tears including his arch-rivals. But it was the Mallorcan’s who was seen as the most affected person by the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s retirement since he was crying continuously.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion went on to admit that he felt like a part of him is leaving with Federer as he recalled the innumerable memories with him on the Tour. He had stated that it was emotionally challenging to say goodbye to someone who has been important to the sport. With this, Martina Navratilova couldnot stop herself from empathizing with Nadal’s situation.

Rafael Nadal is currently touring around six cities in Latin America where he will be playing some exhibition matches along with Casper Ruud. The Norwegian is an alumni of the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca and they both are having a great time away from the ATP Tour. The World No 2 is a die hard football fan and his love for the sport was seen when he played football with his teammates and Ruud in an airport to utilize the waiting time for the flight.
